La Casona is a fitting coffee for heading into cooler weather. With creamy, malic acidity, sweet, purple fruit flavors, and just a bit of pepperiness, it's a great, warming morning coffee that does well with or without milk.
Finca Santa Cruz, under the guiding hand of Pepé Arguello, is a small and relatively young farm, only in its third year now. Arguello takes after his father, who was also a coffee farmer in Chiapas, but he's bringing an updated, conservation-focused touch to the business. His farm is situated in the Triunfo Biosphere Reserve, a protected area since 1993 of about 1,200km2 in the Sierra Madre de Chiapas mountains. El Triunfo is noted for its biodiversity, with both cloud forest and rain forest areas, and Arguello is careful to farm in harmony with his land, in particular, maintaining native Inga trees for shade. We're very excited to offer this coffee and looking forward to future years' crops from Pepé Arguello.
